On 6th September 2019, Trucklink Managing Director Nigel Todd and the HAE group set out on an expedition to conquer the National 3 Peaks Challenge within 24 hours to raise funds for the Francis House Children's Hospice.
Who are the Francis House Children's Hospice & what do they do?
The Francis House Children's Hospice supports approximately 2,000 people at any one time with respite care, homeware, sibling support, end of life care and emotional bereavement support. They provide high levels of clinical care to the families of children and young adults with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.
Francis House enables children, teenagers and young adults to live life to the full, often helping to fulfil dreams, many of these dreams are the kind of things most of us take for granted in our own lives, but are extremely difficult to accomplish when coping with a disability or illness.
The Hospice needs £4.7 million in donations each year to continue to provide long term support to the families who need it most. Your donations can help Francis House provide this essential care and help make magical memories for thousands of children.
So why Francis House?
HAE founder Martin Sweeney was introduced to the Hospice by a close associate in 1999, Mr Sweeney made a visit to the Hospice in 2002, this visit touched him so enormously that he swore to continue to support the Francis House Children's Hospice. Since his departure from the HAE Group he continues to support them personally. The HAE Group have hosted many events and completed many challenges over the years raising thousands of pounds for the charity.
Did they reach their target?
The "Peaky Climbers" set a target to raise £5000 for the hospice, after completion of the 3 Peak Challenge in 23 hours 38 minutes, they managed to raise an astounding £6,444 for the charity!
